Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. As a child, she went to at the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was aspired to become an actor when she was just six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting institute which offers classes for part-time students. As early as age ten she was involved as the lead in several Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was cast in the year 1999. Emma was identified by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint following auditions for 8 times. They were selected as the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut film was made with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film set records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and became the top-grossing movie of 2001. Reviewers praised the film and particularly those who were young. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's performance "amazing". In the following days, Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her role in the film, winning her the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in an Feature Film.
