John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people through his songs of pop-folk and many of them inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell New Mexico. He discovered love for Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's most popular songs about his adopted home state drew many tourists to Colorado. I don't think there's anyone else who represents Colorado as well as John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. In the year 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's first inductee. Today, he is the international face of Colorado. On my journeys around the world, I have met many people who are not from Colorado. They'll say, "Oh John Denver!" when they hear that you're from Colorado. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time within small Folk Music groups. The song was composed in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the song in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single the moment he heard it for the first time. Danoff recorded the song a couple of days after playing at Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
