Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar with his folk-based pop songs most of which were based in Colorado. Denver's popular songs about his home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver was by far one of the most well-known artists who represented Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fame's first inductee, was honored by the honor in 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado for a lot of people across the globe. Certainly in my travels you encounter someone on the other end of the planet, someone who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the first word that comes out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads is Denver's only Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working within small Folk Music groups. The song was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the tune to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single when he first heard it. After performing the song on stage in Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver released the song a couple of days afterward.
